Day 6

Today was a pretty quiet day. This morning we learned about a celtic town that had magical springs with healing powers. Then in 44 A.D. the Romans came and conquered the town. They built baths around the springs and the baths are still there even to this day.

As you might have guessed we are going on a field trip tomorrow to Bath!

I will be taking a bunch of pictures and hopefully remember enough to help fill y'all in on the details!

Went to my first Pub this evening. It was called The Eagle and Child. Yes this is where C.S. Lewis and Tolkien would come and have discussions. I had an appletiser which is a non acoholic beverage very similar to sparkling cider. It was amazing being in an environment where so many great discussions were held. I was in aww!

We learned an interesting thing about pubs today in class. It turns out that villagers in the medieval times would center their celebrations in the church yards. At most of these celebrations people would have ale and would become very drunken and disorderly. So the church built church houses that would be away from the church but the villagers could still have their feast day celebrations. These church houses eventually were disconnected from the church and they became public houses or "pubs".
